Circular gilt bronze medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a map showing the Rivers Oder and Neisse and the Baltic Sea and marking the cities of Warsaw, ‘G’ (Gdansk - or Danzig), ‘S’ (Szczecin – or Stettin) and ‘W’ (Wroclaw – or Breslau) surmounted by a Polish eagle and circumscribed ‘ZA-ODRĘ-NYSĘ-BAŁTYK (for Oder, Neisse, Baltic); the reverse inscribed ‘RP’ (Republic of Poland and ‘ZWYCIĘZCOM’ (to the Victors) and dated ‘III.1945 IV.1945’ (March and April 1945); age-toned; on original ribbon. The medal was instituted on 26 October 1945 by decree of the State National Council (Krajowa Rada Narodowa) and awarded to members of the Polish People’s Army who had been engaged in former German territory that was destined to become Polish-occupied and administered.
